On October 5, 2023, the China Environmental Protection Machinery Industry Association officially released the group standard "Technical Specification for 222nm Far-UVC Disinfection," marking a significant milestone in China's 222nm far-UVC disinfection technology. Developed by Tsinghua University, Qingdao Hongyuji Rail Transit Equipment Co., Ltd., and Ushio Trading (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., among others, the standard will take effect on October 18, 2023.

222nm far-UVC disinfection technology, which disrupts nucleic acids and proteins, combines high photon energy with human-friendly features, making it suitable for air and surface disinfection in human-occupied environments. Despite its international recognition and preliminary applications, the technology previously lacked unified standards. This newly released group standard addresses this gap, providing a theoretical and technical foundation for its standardized application and paving the way for future national standards.

As a key participant, Qingdao Hongyuji Rail Transit Equipment Co., Ltd. has collaborated with Tsinghua University since 2021 to develop innovative products such as far-UVC disinfection gates, enabling rapid disinfection, remote diagnostics, and health management, thereby advancing China's public health disinfection capabilities.
