Brazil Vale Project

Since 2023, Honrock has delivered 66 high-performance industrial sliding door locks to Vale's Victoria-Minas Railway (EFVM) and Carajás Railway (EFC) new passenger car fleet through direct or indirect cooperation channels, supporting the upgrade of core South American trunk line passenger rail services.

I. Project Background

Line Significance:

EFVM (Southeast) and EFC (Northeast) are Brazil's only two trunk lines offering passenger service.

They connect multiple state capitals, mining regions, and ports, serving over 30,000 daily passengers.

Rolling Stock Upgrade Requirement:

Vale initiated a project for 62 new air-conditioned passenger cars (including business class, economy class, accessibility cars, snack cars, dining cars, power generator cars, and baggage cars).

Locks needed to withstand Brazil's complex environments: tropical rainforest, coastal high humidity, and inland aridity.

Stringent Standards:

Concurrent design and manufacturing compliance with Brazilian (ABNT NBR), American (AAR), and European (EN) standards.

Required ultra-high reliability under high temperature, high humidity, and dusty operating conditions.

II. Challenge Analysis & Solutions

1.Lock Failure Risk in Diverse Climates

Challenge:

High temp/humidity causing metal corrosion, lubrication failure, and bolt jamming.

Rainy season salt spray + intense UV radiation accelerating coating degradation and structural deformation.

Dust ingress into lock cores causing malfunctions, impacting emergency door operation.

Solution: Triple-Protection Process

Stainless steel lock body + nano-level electrophoretic coating (Salt spray resistance >1000 hours).

Critical transmission components injected with high-temperature grease.

Added dust-proof sealing rings.

2.Limited Maintenance Resources Requiring Extended Maintenance-Free Cycles

Challenge:

Vast territory with sparse population leading to insufficient remote line maintenance coverage.

Traditional locks requiring frequent oiling, increasing O&M costs.

Solution: Long-Lasting Self-Maintenance Design

Enclosed transmission structure + wear-resistant lock bolt reducing friction loss.

Permanent lubrication system ensuring 100,000 cycles maintenance-free.

III. Product Delivery Overview

Delivered 66 industrial locks for key applications:

Sliding Door Locks: For passenger cabin doors, emergency escape doors, etc., on air-conditioned coaches.

Products passed on-site testing, meeting all required technical and operational standards.

IV. Project Highlights & Collaboration Value

Custom Design: Provided lock types optimized for specific application environments.

Efficient Response: Rapidly completed technical drawing approval, sample testing, and batch delivery.

Agile Delivery: Completed sample environmental testing within 30 days.

V. Conclusion

Honrock deep involvement in upgrading Brazil's core trunk rail lines with 66 sliding door locks demonstrates its full-chain capabilities in extreme-environment product design, multi-standard integration, and localized service. Honrock will continue to deepen its presence in the South American market, providing foundational technical assurance for the "zero-defect, full lifecycle" reliable operation of rail transit equipment.
